My Pinatas are not made to open. They are designed as collectables, not toys.  Each insert is hand shaped and has been covered with a mask of tissue paper.  Layers of hand-cut tissue paper are then applied and followed by highlighting with tissue shapes.

The colorful pinatas that we know today were first documented in China.  Adventurous traders brought the practice to Italy and Spain with the conquistadors combining the playful aspect into Mesoamerican (Mexican) abundance festivities.  A visit to a Texas Pinaturia or Mercado is a vibrant, folksy experience.  Typical Mexican-style Pinatas are usually a minimum of 36" with typical USA sizes 24" or less.
